課程概述 |
This course is designed to introduce NTU students to university-level English. It will guide students to advanced English listening with audio materials derived from miscellaneous ideas sharing platforms, and it will also continue to prepare students for the first stage of the high-intermediate level of the General English Proficiency Test with weekly assignments. In addition, it will facilitate students to listen, speak, read and write in English through exercises extending from the original novels and critical reviews of four Hollywood blockbusters, including Jurassic Park (1993), The Fifth Element (1997), Jumanji (1995) and Stardust (2007). Students will have a chance to apply the language skills they have learned through ten listening transcriptions, two midterms, one essay, several individual presentations and, near the end of this course, through a final presentation in the form of a short play. Students are expected to attend regularly, to read with passion and curiosity, and to engage diligently in course assignments and class discussions. |
